Business Bloom Means New Rooms for LumiGrow

Spectrum Control Systems Company Expands to Meet Market Need

Emeryville, Calif. – February 19, 2015 – LumiGrow, Inc., the leader in greenhouse spectrum control systems, kicked off 2015 with a growth spurt. The company’s cultivation of the horticultural LED lighting space is bearing fruit in a growing market. Market research firms report rapid worldwide expansion in the segment with a 2014 report by Lux Research describing the available market in the U.S. alone “in the high single-digit billions of dollars.” LumiGrow is poised to be a big part of that market with a continually expanding customer base, increased orders from existing customers, an exciting new product announcement just around the corner, and even a move to brand new offices.

The recent new additions to the LumiGrow team have helped better serve its customers. In fact, the growth in the number of staff was such that it spurred a move to a larger space at 8 Digital Drive in Emeryville earlier this month. The new offices are three times larger than the old ones with space for 40 full-time employees to work comfortably in addition to a vast new space for spectral science research and development.

“The whole company has been energized by the move,” Caroline Nordahl Wells, LumiGrow COO and co-founder. “We’re glad LumiGrow’s continued growth necessitated the switch to a larger office. However — even though the expanding market for our spectrum control systems spans the globe — as believers in the North Bay business community, we’re also glad to be staying in Emeryville.”

In 2014 the company added more than 125 new customers to its list of more than 3,000 in 32 countries. New customers weren’t the only story, however. Many of the company’s existing customers — including the USDA — increased their reliance on LumiGrow LEDs over the past year. In 2015 LumiGrow has already taken on three of the top five largest produce growers and expects this trend to continue.

LumiGrow’s next move is still under wraps, but the company is testing a new spectrum control product that’s due to be released later this quarter. It’s technology that has those in the know anticipating an even bigger and brighter future.
