Position Summary

The Senior Director of Software/Cloud Engineering will be a technical, hands-on leader managing a team of highly intelligent software engineers in designing, architecting and scaling our cloud-based SaaS solution in conjunction with our market-leading wireless LED lighting system. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, start-up environment and enjoy mentoring and building phenomenal team players. These skills are paired with strong technical chops – backed by a track record of scaling complex, massively distributed, and highly available and reliable wireless/networked hardware and software services running in the cloud.

Position Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and architecture of cloud-based software, network, mobile and web based system/platform solutions
  • Responsible for the day to day activities of the LumiGrow software/cloud engineering team, development and operations, including managing external teams
  • Support recruitment, managing, and leading a team of software/cloud engineers and consultants
  • Manage day-to-day operations of LumiGrow’s cloud network service and ensure high availability, reliability and performance metrics
  • Manage a global Network/Service Operations team with 24x7x365 on-call coverage
  • Administer the design and implementation of global networking infrastructure, including management of peering relationships with carriers and SaaS providers
  • Develop DevOps processes and procedures to rapidly transition new Cloud Services into production
  • Manage project plans, creating master project schedules, develop world class processes that ensure on-time release schedules and milestones
  • Collaborate with all LumiGrow internal groups and product management to ensure products meet all requirements as well as the needs of the organization and our end customers

Position Requirements
  • BS in CS/ECE or equivalent field and around 5-7 year’s experience in providing technical and management leadership (MS strongly preferred)
  • Prior experience in a fast paced, dynamic startup environment
  • Highly proficient in running network services in public cloud while leveraging third party Cloud Service Providers
  • Fluency in many programming languages and capable to code regularly across a full stack such as: single page web client technologies (HTML, JavaScript, CSS, AngularJS, Bootstrap), Back end technologies (Java, SQL, load balancers, messaging queues, REST, JSON, etc.), networking (HTTPS, MQTT, NTP), embedded OS such as OpenWRT, Development tools (AWS, GIT, JIRA) and processes (Scrum, Agile)
  • Deep understanding of networking and data center operations and standard practices with proven experience in running a 24×7 NOC & Technical Support teams
  • Knowledge of hardware, controls/monitoring, wireless networks and IoT Strong cyber security knowledge is required
  • Proficiency in managing large scale big data and database relationships and environments
  • Experience managing outages, customer escalations, crisis management and other similar circumstances
